Administrative Rules

Administrative rules are regulations promulgated by state agencies to implement or interpret provisions of the statutes or to establish agency procedures for administering programs. Administrative rules have the effect of law.

Included in the links below are a web site for the Wisconsin Administrative Code, which is the compilation of all existing administrative rules, and a web site that shows the status of proposed rules.  In addition, the Legislative Council’s publication, Review of Administrative Rules, describes the rules promulgation process and includes a flow chart that shows the process.
