Preventing Crime: What Works, What Doesn’t, What’s Promising. U.S. National Institutes of Justice. Research in Brief. July 1998. (346.9/X24.) Discusses a congressionally mandated evaluation of State and local crime prevention programs funded by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Promising Strategies to Reduce Gun Violence. U.S. Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. 1999. (614.82/X21) Offers practical information about a range of strategies to reduce gun violence. Profiles successful approaches implemented by other communities.

Youth Violence: A Policymaker’s Guide. Education Commission of the States. Metropolitan Life Foundation, 1996. (373.5/Ed8) Examines what state and federal government are doing to reduce school violence. Includes policy recommendations from statewide meetings and other discussions.
