Robson Wins 2007 Headliner Award

Sen. Judy Robson received the Laurence A. Raymer Headliner Award on Tuesday at the 80th Annual Greater Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce Dinner.

The prestigious award – generally recognized as the Stateline Area’s man or woman of the year – is named in honor of the late Larry Chamber, an executive editor at the newspaper and executive director at the Chamber.

For the past 27 years, the Beloit Daily News has honored an individual who has accomplished something extraordinary, either in the period of a year or over a lifetime.

“Concern for others has been a hallmark of Judy Robson’s life,” Daily News Editor Bill Barth said in presenting the award. “A registered nurse, Ms. Robson spent several years providing hands-on care in our community. She also helped prepare others, as a nursing instructor at Blackhawk Technical College.”

The award recognizes Robson for her public service first as the state representative for the Beloit area and currently as the state senator for most of Rock County and the Whitewater area.

“In both houses of government, Senator Robson has been an effective spokesperson for the region.” Barth said. “Though health care has continued to be a policy priority for her, Senator Robson now occupies her time dealing with a wide range of topics. Chosen by her party to serve as Majority Leader of the Wisconsin Senate, Senator Robson has become one of the most influential individuals in Wisconsin, with the ability to positively impact both her community and her state.”

Past Recipients of the Headliner Award include the Rev. Floyd Prude, Ken and Diane Hendricks, Victor Ferrall, and Andrew Janke.
