Erpenbach to Head Senate Health and Human Services Committee

Ensuring Affordable Health Care Will Top Committee Agenda

Madison – State Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton) has been named Chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee by incoming Senate Majority Leader Judy Robson (D-Beloit). Erpenbach’s committee will lead efforts on health care reform issues in the upcoming legislative session.

“Health Care reform and ensuring health care is available and affordable for Wisconsin families will be our top priority on this Committee,” said Erpenbach. “I’m looking forward to working with Republicans and Democrats to get real results.”

Erpenbach, who currently sits on the Senate’s Health Committee and the Select Committee on Health Care Reform, said addressing the rising costs of health care will not only help working families, but also employers across Wisconsin.

“The people of Wisconsin sent a loud and clear message we need a new direction in the state legislature on central issues like health care,” said Erpenbach. “Our Democratic Majority will move quickly and decisively to get results for working families.”

Erpenbach has authored and supported numerous bills to protect health care including legislation to allow citizens to pool into cooperatives to purchase health insurance at competitive rates, as well as the SeniorCare prescription drug plan and other important bills.

“I am grateful Senator Robson has asked me to lead our effort to reform health care,” said Erpenbach. “I will make sure all sides are heard from and that we all move forward together.”
