Erpenbach Receives “Friend of Agriculture” Award
Senator Jon Erpenbach last week received the “Friend of Agriculture” award from Volunteers For Agriculture®, the political action arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation.
The Volunteers for Agriculture publishes the “Friend of Agriculture” Scorecard to educate the agricultural community and the public about the agricultural voting records of members of the Wisconsin Legislature.
Roll call votes in the Assembly and Senate that were scored for the “Friend of Agriculture” designation included: ethanol fuel requirement, eminent domain protection, livestock investment tax credit, health savings accounts, truck weight limits, second generation cooperatives, wildlife abatement program, and biodiesel definition and labeling.
Legislators also received bonus points for working with Farm Bureau staff, supporting the organization’s position on bills and administrative rules in committee, attending Farm Bureau meetings, and being a Farm Bureau member.
“The ‘Friend of Agriculture’ scorecard presented legislators with a real choice on making agriculture a strong and growing part of Wisconsin and recognized those who acted to support agriculture by their votes consistent with policies and positions crafted by farmers across the state,” said VFA chairman John Jarvis, a Waushara County Farm Bureau member who operates a dairy farm near Wautoma.
The Friends of Agriculture Scorecard can be viewed at the WFBF web site at www.wfbf.com.
